Students from The Nicholas Hamond Academy recently had the opportunity to take over their local council.
As part of an engagement event organised by Breckland Council, pupils were each given a role within their council team under the guidance of their mentor Councillor Nigel Wilkin.
Several real life scenarios were setup including answering a telephone call of a complaint from a member of the public, were tackled through role play.
Pupils also discussed issues around prioritising budgets and expenditure and making decisions about where money should be spent.
The day concluded with each team having to design and present their own magazine titled “Take a Breck”.Back to News
