Leading Teaching Through Pedagogical Principles is our new series designed to help colleagues who lead aspects of teaching at every level to understand and implement the principles.

This series if delivered over five sessions. To help our colleagues structure their professional development time, each session will take place on a Monday evening from 16.00-17.00. Find out more about the individual sessions below.

Session 1: Leading Teaching Through Pedagogical Principles

Monday, October 13, 2025  |  16:00 – 17:00

With Cat Rushton and Katie Pattinson, session 1 will look at:

  • how Pedagogical Principles can support teachers to develop effective classroom practice
  • how to develop classroom practitioners through CPD
  • how to utilise the Steplab platform functionality to lead teaching in your area
  • an introduction to the following sessions

Session 2: How To Identify Pedagogical Priorities

  • how to interpret evidence about classroom pedagogy
  • how to utilise the Steplab platform functionality to lead teaching in your area

Session 5: Adapting To Accommodate Teacher Expertise

  • how to adapt Pedagogical Priciples to teacher expertise
  • understanding adaptations to levels of expertise in your setting
