A portrait of Ged Rae, Trust Principal

Ged has worked in education since 1999, initially as a teacher of science. He started his career in Scotland before moving to Nottinghamshire in 2006.

Ged is passionate about creating educational opportunities and believes that every pupil can excel, irrespective of their background or starting point. Ged has interests in improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and ensuring that strong implementation results in curricula that are ambitious, academically challenging and meets the bespoke needs of pupils and the contexts of individual academies. He has recently completed his NPQEL and is currently awaiting the result.

Ged joined ATT in 2020 as Principal of The Dukeries Academy after ten successful years at Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT). At GAT he was Principal at Stanground Academy and Lead Principal at Nottingham Academy. During his time at GAT and ATT Ged has led or supported four good Ofsted inspections. More recently Ged has been Trust Principal working across The Dukeries Academy and Sutton Community Academy and leads the ATT Curriculum and Pedagogy Community.

In his spare time Ged enjoys running and completed a 50-mile ultramarathon in 2023.
