At ATT we believe it is our responsibility to transform life chances by removing barriers to learning. We strive to create positive and inclusive learning environments with high expectations for children with SEND. Our goal is to transform lives through excellent holistic education by ensuring access to high-quality teaching.

Our academies review and build a holistic understanding of learners’ needs through assessment and the use of the graduated response. We ensure all our academies have access to a suite of intervention, assessment, and screening tools to analyse a child’s needs effectively, through our SEND Core Offer. Staff across ATT are also trained to be Trust Wide SEND Core Offer Trainers (TWSCOTs), providing high quality CPD and support to staff to ensure our excellent provision.

Students receive a high-quality education through quality first teaching, supported by the effective deployment of teaching assistants. This is complemented by targeted interventions from qualified staff. ATT staff are highly trained to understand individual learning needs, maintaining high expectations and proving that students can achieve more than they thought possible.

Strategic Leadership of SEND

At Academy Transformation Trust (ATT), strategic leadership is crucial in driving our SEND initiatives. We ensure that SEND support comes from more than just the SENDCO, with collaboration and interlinking between leaders across the trust. Effective communication with families and working closely with the Local Authority (LA) and other agencies are key components of our strategy. We also focus on optimising resources and finances to provide the best possible support for our students.

Effective Quality First Teaching

Quality first teaching is at the heart of our approach to SEND. We prioritise creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. Our teaching staff are highly trained to deliver high-quality education, supported by the effective deployment of teaching assistants. Interventions are run in addition to learning, not instead of, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support. We conduct impact assessments to measure the effectiveness of our interventions and continuously improve our practices.

“The school has effective processes to identify and support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The multi-academy trust (MAT) supports the school very well in this regard.”

Early Identification and Reducing Barriers

Early identification of need is essential in our approach to SEND. We use a suite of intervention, assessment, and screening tools to build a holistic understanding of each student’s needs. By identifying needs early, we can implement targeted interventions to reduce barriers to learning. Our goal is to provide timely and effective support, ensuring that all students have equal access to high-quality education and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Empowering Our Communities

At ATT, we are committed to empowering our communities by signposting support for parents and carers and providing high-quality training for our staff. We use a strengths-based approach that focuses on adaptive practice, following the Judith Carter model. We train our stakeholders to have enhanced awareness of the support and inclusive practices needed to assist young people with their lifelong learning. SENCOs and Staff benefit from our SEND Snapshots – breaking down our inclusive knowledge into manageable bitesize chunks. By fostering a community that is knowledgeable and supportive, we ensure that every child receives the care and education they need to succeed.
