At ATT, safeguarding is the golden thread that runs through everything we do. Our mission to transform life chances is achieved by creating a safe and supportive environment where every child feels secure and valued.  Our inclusive safeguarding practices ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have equal rights to support and protection. Through continuous training and by raising awareness, we equip our community with the knowledge to spot signs of abuse and take ownership of safeguarding our learners. By embedding these principles into our daily practice and cultural norms, we create a nurturing environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Our suite of policies including Safeguarding and Child Protection, can be found on our policies page.

Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility

Safeguarding our learners and children is our number one priority. It is our duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We train everyone to remain open-minded, know how to spot the signs of abuse, and take ownership of the safeguarding and well-being of all our learners and children.

Inclusive Environment

We focus on providing a safe and welcoming environment for all children. All children have equal rights to support and protection. Our safeguarding practices are inclusive, ensuring that every child, regardless of age, ability, culture, race, language, religion, gender identity, or sexual identity, feels valued and protected. We actively promote diversity and inclusion, recognising and respecting the unique backgrounds and experiences of each child. By fostering an environment of understanding and acceptance, we ensure that all children receive the support they need to thrive.

Whole-School Approach

Safeguarding is the backbone of our organisation, underpinning our daily practice and cultural norms. In every one of our academies, we ensure that safeguarding and child protection are at the forefront of all relevant aspects of process and policy development, always operating in the best interests of the child.

Child-Centred Approach

Our staff are encouraged to adopt the mindset ‘it could happen here’. We recognise the importance of enabling children to talk openly about anything that worries them, allowing them to feel confident that they will be listened to and ensuriung they can access well-publicised systems for reporting or disclosing abuse or harm.

Psychological Safety and Mental Health Support

We prioritise the psychological safety of our students by fostering an environment where they feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions. We provide robust mental health and well-being support to address any concerns and promote overall well-being.

Empowering Our Community

We are dedicated to empowering our community by providing comprehensive safeguarding training to all stakeholders, including staff, leaders, governors, trustees, support staff, parents, carers, and students. Our curriculum is tailored to address the most prevalent issues in each academy, raising awareness and preventing problems through proactive education. We utilise Safeguarding Snapshots – short clips on various safeguarding topics – to provide accessible training for staff and leaders, alongside regular KCSIE updates, safeguarding training, and new starter inductions. By continuously educating our community, we ensure everyone can spot the signs of abuse, hold each other accountable, and improve our safeguarding practices, creating a safe and supportive environment for all children.
